Tips to arrange cooking with your kid

from 1 year 6 months to 3 years

As cooking engages all of the senses – seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting – cooking with kids provides them with fabulous sensory input that is really important for brain development.

There are some tips to arrange the process:

  • Choose a time when your little one is not overly tired – first thing in the morning or after naptime work well.
  • To keep the cooking experience short to suit a short kid attention span, pre-measure the ingredients before you begin and have them individually separated ready for your toddler to add to the mixing bowl or pot.
  • Kids love to mix and stir so be sure to include mixing and stirring in the cooking experience!
  • There will invariably be a mess but that is part of the process too. Fortunately little ones also love to help you clean up!

Make photos of your kid helping you with cooking, upload to the App. Write briefly about the experience and your impressions.
