Rhythm game

Try out this simple music activity using homemade ‘drums’. As your baby grows, they'll want to take a turn too to make their own music!

Needed:

• A variety of surfaces that can act as drums and will produce different sounds when struck - eg. saucepans, kitchen bench, kitchen table, floorboards, empty box, empty tin
• Striking tool - eg. wooden spoon, hands, pencils

Sit with your baby between your legs or beside you, with the ‘drums’ close within reach.

Using your striking tool, tap out a simple beat combination on the different surfaces.

Your young baby will enjoy the music and rhythm!
