Learn Rhythm with Drums

Try out this simple music activity using homemade ‘drums’. As your baby grows, they'll want to take a turn too and make their own music!

You'll need:

• A variety of surfaces that can act as drums and will produce different sounds when struck - eg. saucepans, kitchen bench, kitchen table, floorboards, empty box, empty tin
• Striking tool - eg. wooden spoon, hands, pencils

Sit with your baby between your legs or beside you, with the ‘drums’ close, within reach.

Using your striking tool, tap out simple beat combinations on the different surfaces.

Your young baby will enjoy the music and rhythm!
