Math games with acorns

5 to 8 years

Acorns are perfect for arranging various math games with kids.

Choose a warm fall day, go to the nearest park or an oak grove with your little one and pick up the materials.

Here are some ideas how to use the acorns for calculating.

You'll need:

  • paper;
  • scissors;
  • felt pen;
  • acorns.

Cut the paper into squares of about 3x3 cm.

Write on the squares mathematical signs (plus, minus, equal, more, less) and numbers.

Now use your fantasy and start playing!

You can lay out numbers of the acorns, then add and subtract them, using the cards.

Compare the length of the lines layed out of acorns, lay out geometric shapes, etc.

Invent your own games and be creative!
