Easy Fitball Exercises

under 1 month

Playing with babies on an exercise ball is a fun way to help them strengthen postural muscles necessary for the development of motor skills. It’s also an easy way to provide them with more opportunities for movement and sensory input.

Below are some easy exercises to perform with your little one. Start with 5 minutes, later you training may last up to 15 minutes.

  • Lay the baby tummy down on the fitball. This is a great one because you can vary the angle at which your baby is positioned. A greater incline will be more comfortable for a baby who is just beginning tummy time (kind of like being up against an adult’s shoulder as a newborn), whereas a more flat position right on top of the ball will be more challenging and appropriate for those who are further along in the process. Once you get your baby into a position on the ball that is comfortable for both him and yourself, you can begin to slowly roll him forward and backward, making sure that you keep a good grip on him and that he is okay with how far and fast you are moving him. Place your hands on baby’s hips and position yourself behind him as you roll, it’s even better if you can place yourself where he can see you so that he knows where you are and can interact with you.
  • Lay the little one back down on the fitball. The exercise is simular to the previous one, you should hold the baby's chest or tummy.
  • Lay the baby on the floor or on the cot, put the fitball close to baby feet. Stimulate the little one to push the ball with both legs.
  • Jumping!Just lay the baby tummy or back down on the fitball and press the ball, holding the baby's chest. The baby will move up and down.

Make photos of the process, upload to the App. Write about the baby's reactions.
